Welcome to DTU

​DTU offers our international unpaid guest researchers and guest PhD students assistance with administrative, practical, and cultural issues before and after arrival. This includes the process for a work and residence permit/EU residence document.

For non-EU citizens visiting DTU for more than 90 days:
Due to the application process time to obtain a Danish work and residence permit, the online guest registration form will not let you choose a start date sooner than 2½ months from your date of registration.

For non-EU citizens visiting DTU for less than 90 days:
If you will visit DTU as a guest researcher for less than 90 days, you may be exempt from the need for a Danish work and residence permit, provided that you fulfill the relevant visa requirements (this does not apply for guest PhD, who are still required to hold a work and residence permit regardless of the duration of the visit). In that case we will need a copy of your your Master's diploma or PhD diploma, if it is not in English then it must be translated into English by an authorized translator. Since the online guest registration form will not let you choose a start date sooner than 2½ months from your date of registration, please choose the earliest date possible and write the correct dates of your visit in the comment field.

If you are going to visit DTU Offshore - Danish Offshore Technology Centre, DTU Engineering Technology, DTU Entrepreneurship, DTU Learn for Life  or DTU Space, please contact your DTU contact/DTU department and do not register in the online guest registration form.

If you are visiting other departments, please use the online guest registration form if you are going to work at DTU during your visit and you are coming as a:

- Guest PhD student (not PhD students, who are enrolled at DTU for 3 years)

- Guest Postdoc

- Guest Researcher

- Guest Assistant Professor

- Guest Associate Professor

- Guest Professor (not employed by DTU)

If you are visiting DTU as a Guest PhD student, you must be able to document that you are enrolled as a PhD student at your home university.

If you are visiting DTU as a Guest Postdoc, Guest Researcher, Guest Assistant Professor, Guest Associate Professor or Guest Professor (not employed by DTU), you must have completed an educational programme at the minimum level of a Master's degree. You must be able to document this with a copy of your diploma in English.

Please note that before you fill out the registration form, you will need to have a DTU contact person and an agreed period (start and end date) of your stay.

In the registration form, you will be asked to upload:

 - a copy of your Master's diploma, if it is not in English then translated into English by an authorized translator (all documents submitted to the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) needs to be in English or Danish)
 - your CV, and
 - documentation of your enrollment at your home university, if you are coming as a guest PhD student

In addition, we ask you to upload documentation of financial support if you will receive a scholarship/funding to support your stay at DTU. Please make sure that your documentation includes the dates of your stay and the total amount of funding that you will receive.
